Paddington 2 (2017) (9.3/10) dir. Paul King

• Paddington 2 tells the story of Paddington, the bear, being falsely accused of stealing a book for his aunt and having to escape from prison.
• The movie is hilarious, heart-warming, tragic, and beautiful. I thought it was a joke when they talked about how great the movie was in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent but it turns out that Paddington 2 is truly a masterpiece. Paddington is just an incredible character in every way. He is so lovable and teaches us about the importance of seeing the good in all people.
• The film is a little absurd at times but it’s okay because the ridiculousness matches the visual and comic tone of the movie.
• Paddington 2 is inspiring and should be the aspiration of contemporary cinema if you ask me. It reinvigorated my belief in the power of storytelling.
